Summer's Mine by Bri Steves

First off, I'd like to say how proud I am to have been involved in the process of making this record and video happen. We finally have a summer anthem that truly embodies what we all think of when it comes to summer in 2016. With all the madness happening in the world, a positive fun record like this is definitely what the soul needs. Shout Out to everyone who was involved in making the video and record: Bri Steves, Robot Scott, Twiz Matic, Jay The Great, Dyshon Penn, Akasha, Dvvnci, Fresco and the homie DJ HVNLEE.

I remember going to the Illvibe Collective's 15-year Anniversary of BodyRock with Bri Steves, and towards the end of the night Mr. Sonny James dropped the 1970 Soul Classic, "It's a Shame" by the Spinners (I just learned at DJ Spinna's Wonder-full party, Stevie Wonder produced and co-wrote that record).

Bri couldn't get that record out her head and knew that was a sign, so she started working on the beat the next day. She knew that "Summer's Mine" was going to be the shit before we all did. She brought all the creative minds together to make this record happen. I remember getting the call from Bri Steves to do the cuts for "Summer's Mine" before I heard what she had so far with vocals. When she sent it over, I knew this was going to be a banger. I was also honored because the record paid homage to DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's 1991 Summer Classic, "Summertime". If you know me, you know Jazzy Jeff is one of my greatest influences.

I'd liked to give a special thanks to Bri Steves for taking me on this journey with her in making this dope ass tune. She's amazingly talented and I'm looking forward to many more records in the future from her. She's got IT.
